Therapy

Therapy can help us identify what gets in the way of our needs being met, imagine new possibilities, and accompany us through both our heights and our depths.

I believe that meaning, purpose, and healing can be found even in our darkest places—especially in our darkest places—and that the hardest times often become the most creative.

  • There are no hard and fast rules about who comes and at which point. Therapy can be beneficial whatever your needs and aspirations.

  • I consider it my job to help you navigate the obstacles which stand in the way of getting your needs met – to be curious and offer questions and suggestions to help you see new possibilities.

  • My approach combines psychosynthesis therapy with somatic therapy to encompass mind and body.

This means that I work both 'top down', through thoughts and beliefs, and 'bottom up', through body experience and a felt-sense.

    I am also ADHD informed.

My approach might also be considered 'integrative', 'transpersonal' and 'relational'.

  • Psychosynthesis is sometimes referred to as 'the psychology of the soul' as it encompasses both psychology and spirituality.

It is an inherently hopeful, inclusive and creative approach to healing and personal growth.

It holds that we don't just repress our pain, shame and fear – we can also repress our joy, gifts, connection to the divine, and other qualities.

  • Science is beginning to show how much intelligence resides 'below the neck' and the degree to which our bodies influence thoughts, feelings and behaviour.

The body is often where our implicit, pre-language memory is held as a 'felt-sense'. It is also where experiences tend to be held when they could not, for whatever reason, be processed at the time.

Paying attention to the language of the body, and the 'felt-sense' is sometimes referred to as 'bottom-up' therapy.

  • It is widely acknowledged that the best outcomes are based on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the client and counsellor.

I hope that you will feel that you have a real person in the room with you, or on zoom, and not a distant figure.

  • 'Integrative' means that I draw from a range of therapeutic and spiritual modalities. These include:

    • Psychosynthesis

    • Psychodynamic

    • Jungian

    • Gestalt

    • Somatic Experiencing

    • NARM

    • NeuroAffective Touch

    • Bio-feedback

    • DBT

    • Buddhism

    • Meditation
      & Breath-work

  • Sessions are 50 minutes long unless we negotiate something which would suit your needs better.

  • Yes I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and The Somatic Experiencing Association (SEAUK)
